Our Design & Development Process
Step 1: Discovery
Our first step involves learning more about you and your/your business’s goals for the website. This will likely involve questions like:
-
- What industry is this website for?
- Are you looking to sell items, book services, or have a portfolio for potential clients?
- Who is your target market?
- What are the core themes/ideas involved in your brand?
Step 2: General Planning
Our next step will be the general planning of the website, where we utilize the information from the discovery process to detail the best steps for your website re: style, functionality, etc. and decide on the best way to meet those needs, including recommending pages and page hierarchy. We can also discuss any additional services you may be interested in, such as SEO optimization or inventory management. We’ll also provide you with a contract for our services via HoneyBook.
Step 3: Design
Once we have an understanding of your brand and goals, we’ll officially begin the design process. This is a multi-stage process, generally beginning with the basics: typography, color scheme, and imagery. Generally, we start with the landing/homepage, including site-wide headers and footers, before moving on to page-specific designs. We also create personalized commerce pages for online shops. Our design can include as much or as little of your input as you’d like, so if you’re not sure what you’d like to do stylistically, we’re happy to help figure it out!
Step 4: Development
Next, we combine form and function, building your website! This is generally the most time-consuming part of the design and development process, due to testing and optimization. This is generally when we make sure to communicate with our clients the most to keep them updated. At this time, portions of your site will be visible on one of our test sites for your review as we go.
Step 5: Launch
Finally the most exciting step: launch! Once our final design is tested, optimized, and approved by you, we’ll activate your website on your own domain. We can also set you up with a branded email address to add legitimacy to your email communication.
That’s it! The basics of our process. For more info or to schedule a free consultation, email us any time at contact@lewismeek.com
